Beyond Representation: LGBTQIA+ Book Workshop

In this workshop we explore how to engage with LGBTQIA2+ books beyond conversations of representation and towards deepening our commitments towards equity and justice.

Biographies Of Proposed Presenters And Authors: Robin Gow (it/fae/he & él y elle) is a disabled trans poet and community educator. It grew up in Kutztown, Pennsylvania and lives with his partner Rain and their menagerie of animals on unceded Lenape land also called Allentown Pennsylvania. Over the last five years, Robin has trained over 3,000 people on LGBTQIA2+ Inclusion and Equity and Neurodiversity/Disability justice topics. He serves on the Board of Eastern PA Trans Equity Project and Lehigh Valley Center for Independent Living and is a founding organizer of Queer & Trans Lehigh Valley. Fae is also the critically acclaimed author of poetry, YA, and Middle-Grade books.
Bio: Rain Black, M.P.H., CPH (Fae/He) is a trans autistic watercolor artist and forager who earned faers bachelor’s degrees in Biology, Public Health and Art from Cedar Crest College. He holds a Master of Public Health degree in epidemiology from the University of South Florida and is Certified in Public Health. He is a community educator with 7 years of experience focusing on topics around domestic and intimate partner abuse, queer and transgender justice, foraged art making, life skills, and public health. Fae also teaches about native plants, forest conservation, and foraging on social media and in person. He is a founding organizer of Queer & Trans Lehigh Valley.
